1,461st Day of the Full-Scale War: Ottawa Stands with Ukraine
Today 1,461 days already passed since ruzzia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine (on February 24, 2022)!
And since this #russiaisaterroriststate started the war against Ukraine in 2014 (February 20, 2014, the beginning of the occupation of Crimea) 4,387 days passed!!!
Despite the strength and resilience Ukrainian people are showing every day to beat the evil, we still need much more support from all the world to conquer the beast and achieve just peace!
On February 22, 2026 Ottawa commemorated the 4th year of the brutal deliberated full-scale invasion of russia to Ukraine.
It was extremely tough emotionally day to prepare the banners and helmet for the rally (as a strong symbol of courage, honour and remembrance). It is extremely difficult to withstand the event without tears. No matter how far we are now from our motherland our hearts and actions of support and help are always with our Ukrainian people back home!
Together with the opening anthems of Canada and Ukraine performed by a choir Ruta, remarkable speeches of CEO of the UCC Ihor Michalchyshyn, Honourable Senator Rebecca Patterson, UCC Ottawa President Maryna Vyatkina, Honourable MP Mona Fortier, Juris Ulmanis - a Latvian volunteer and activist who strongly supports Ukraine, Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Maksym Mandtiuk, students of UOttawa, Russian Embassy Protestors, Executive Director at Canada-Ukraine Foundation Valeriy Kostiuk, both priests of Ukrainian churches in Ottawa: Ukrainian Catholic and Orthodox, we commemorated the 4th year since full-scale invasion of russia error-state on Ukraine.
For most of people around the globe this war became something usual. A lot of people got tired. The others are asking me if it’s getting better. Sometimes I feel we are fighting with a windmills, while most of people continue living their usual life.
Until it’ll become personal. Until it’ll knock in your door and will open it and will chase you out without your permission. The same way as it did to me, to my family and friends, and all Ukrainians!
