Charity Malanka in Ottawa: $10,000 Raised for “Heal a Mother’s Heart”

On January 17th, the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services (UCSS) - Ottawa Branch hosted a beautiful Charity Malanka in support of Maple Hope Foundation’s Heal a Mother’s Heart campaign.

Thanks to the generosity of this incredible community, the evening raised $10,000 to support psychosocial support programming for women grieving the loss of loved ones in the war in Ukraine 💙💛

As a Vancouver-based organization, Maple Hope Foundation was deeply moved by the warmth, solidarity, and generosity shown by the Ottawa community. To feel such wholehearted support from across the country reminds us that Ukrainian solidarity and compassion know no geographic boundaries.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Maryna Popovych and her team at Ukrainian Canadian Social Services – Ottawa Branch for organizing this special evening. Your leadership, care, and dedication made this event possible.

We are also sincerely thankful to the Ukrainian Cultural Society for sharing their original exhibition “Where Did Malanka Go,” which brought cultural depth to the celebration, inviting guests to reflect about the origins of this holiday and its ancient traditions.

⭐️ We would like to thank extend a special thank you to the City of Ottawa for your in-kind contributions and being present at this event.

🇱🇹 🇵🇱 Labai ačiū and bardzo dziękuję to Their Excellencies Ambassador of Lithuania to Canada Egidijus Meilūnas and Ambassador of Poland to Canada Witold Dzielski. Thank you for attending this evening and spreading the word about our work.
