From a Camper

My name is Katie and I’m 11 years old. This was my stay at the Sunflower Camp.

The camp is in a nice location, surrounded by trees and a beautiful lake. The cabins are warm and the beds are comfortable. The meals and beverages that our cooks prepared were delicious, tasting just like home. Everything was homemade and would make you drool in anticipation to eat such a meal! The staff there, from cooks to counselors, were kind and hospitable.

Activities were amusing and competitive. Counselors would dress up in silly costumes, we would put makeup on the boys, we played pranks on each other and we would simply have a blast!

It's a beautiful camp, and all the staff there are welcoming to you!

I would absolutely recommend this camp to any young Ukrainian!

The experience I gained at the "Soniashnyk" camp was very different from what I had experienced before.

I realized that, for some of these kids, this was an opportunity to enjoy the summer or finally take a break from the events they had experienced over the past few years. Therefore, I made every effort to ensure the children felt comfortable and had memories they would cherish weeks, months, or even years after the camp ended.

I believe that I helped the children advance in their social and mental development. I also hope that I managed to give them some of the best and warmest memories of their lives.

We are one of the fortunate families from Ukraine who had the opportunity to participate in this year's children's camp in a picturesque location. It brought us immense joy to provide our eldest daughter with the chance to improve her health and enjoy herself at the wonderful Sunflower Camp.

Throughout the week, the kids experienced a flood of positive emotions, formed great impressions, witnessed holistic development, and gained new experiences and friendships with many incredible individuals. Above all, it served as a Ukrainian focal point in distant Canada.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for supporting our future, as children are the future! We deeply appreciate your efforts in creating such a magnificent place surrounded by breathtaking nature. Our thanks also go to all the partners for their seamless collaboration, resulting in an exceptionally gratifying outcome — joyful children and delighted parents.

With your unwavering support, dedication, and the tremendous work of volunteers, a wonderful educational tradition has been established for the children.
